The Construction Industry Council (CIC) has established a STEAM Interactive Space (STEAM Lab) at the Zero Carbon Park (ZCP) to nurture innovative professionals for the construction industry, promote STEAM education, and advocate for the importance of future construction technology. As a key educational project within ZCP, the STEAM Lab aims to be an interactive platform showcasing the latest construction technologies and industry knowledge, inspiring interdisciplinary thinking in the next generation, cultivating essential future skills, and working towards carbon neutrality.

The STEAM Lab offers guided tours and welcomes secondary and upper primary school students and educators. Tours last approximately one hour and are available Monday through Sunday at 10:00 am, 2:30 pm, and 4:00 pm. The space is divided into four zones: Equipment Zone, Creative Zone, Interactive Zone, and Mobility Zone, each providing a unique learning experience.

In the Equipment Zone, participants can role-play various construction professionals, such as surveyors, architects, and engineers. Through interactive games, they experience the daily work of these professions, learn about different equipment and tools, and deepen their understanding of the diverse roles within the construction industry.

The Creative Zone showcases innovative and sustainable construction materials, such as 3D-printed concrete, eggshell decorative tiles, bamboo, and apple pomace leather. Participants learn how technology drives the development of building materials to meet diverse needs and achieve carbon neutrality. This zone also features two 3D scanners, allowing participants to experience the scanning process used in heritage restoration and learn about Point Cloud and Mesh scanning technologies.

The Interactive Zone demonstrates how the construction industry utilizes digital technologies like Digital Twins and Building Information Modeling (BIM) to enhance productivity. Participants learn how BIM is applied in project management, construction process control, and interdisciplinary collaboration. They also explore the zero-carbon design concepts of ZCP itself. The CIC continues to invite other green building projects to share their BIM models, promoting digitalization and increasing public awareness.

In the Mobility Zone, participants experience a simulated construction site where they operate various construction vehicles. Through teamwork and game-based learning, they understand the functions of different vehicles. They can also interact with the latest robotic arm, using vacuum pump technology to complete tasks, combining learning with entertainment and enhancing their knowledge of physics, engineering, and mathematics.
