As one of the MiC Week events, our Chairman of the CIC, Ir Prof. Thomas HO led an industry delegation to the Hong Kong Housing Society (HKHS) Dedicated Rehousing Estate project at the Kwu Tung North New Development Area.

During our visit, Ir Franco Cheung, Director (Projects) of HKHS, shared an overview of HKHS projects. With over 2,400 modules, the MiC Tracking Platform serves as a centralised management tool for monitoring the status of MiC components. The utilisation of various tracking and application platforms allows the project team to track project data and status effectively, enhancing transparency, communication, and efficiency among all parties involved.

The spirit of collaboration is embodied in the MiC Collaboration Centre, Hip3 (協³箱), which exemplifies teamwork among the project client, consultants, contractor and workers (協作、房協 and 協興 Hip Hing Construction Company Limited) The adoption of the Design for Safety principle is apparent in different aspects, such as tower crane operations, metal scaffolding and MiC installations, alongside the implementation of VR safety training for MiC installation and safety precautions, demonstrating a strong commitment to caring and safety in the project.

Hong Kong’s construction technology has undergone remarkable evolution - from precast panels to fully prefabricated bathrooms and kitchens. Now, MiC has emerged as a true game-changer, revolutionising the way we build.
