“Plastic Reborn: Easter Egg” Upcycled Art Installation Transforming Community Plastics into Art
CIC-ZCP presents the upcycled art installation “Plastic Reborn・Easter Egg” during the Easter period. The artwork is created using around 500 recycled plastic bottles collected at CIC-ZCP, transformed into more than 220 mini Easter eggs, which are then assembled into a giant egg shaped installation. The piece symbolises the collective power of community recycling, turning waste into art and showcasing the limitless possibilities of renewal and resource circulation.
“Plastic Reborn: Easter Egg” Upcycled Art Installation is a public art installation specially curated for Easter, jointly created by CIC-ZCP and local plastic upcycling team Gaau1 Up Design Studio. Centered on the concepts of rebirth and circularity, the work transforms the festive symbol into an educational and visually impactful art experience through the use of eco friendly materials and collective participation.
The concept revolves around the symbolism of the Easter egg, symbolising the nurturing of life and renewal. The nest and egg structures are crafted from recyclable, reusable, or responsibly treated materials, including wood, metal, and 3D printed PET made from recycled plastics. From design to production, the installation embodies the principles of sustainable development.
Community Co creation × STEAM Education
Each mini Easter egg in the installation has been hand crafted by students. These unique creations embody diverse imagination and creativity, ultimately coming together as a public art installation that symbolises how individual efforts can unite to build a broader future, while underscoring the vital role of community participation in sustainable development.
“Plastic Reborn: Easter Egg” is not only an art installation, but also a platform that integrates environmental education, community engagement, and creative upcycling. By transforming recycled materials into symbolic artistic forms, the work invites the public to reconsider the value of resources and, within the joyful atmosphere of the festival, to experience the hope and possibilities brought by sustainability.
This project brought together over a hundred primary and secondary school students, each painting their vision of CIC ZCP’s biodiversity and its boundless possibilities. In doing so, the “Art” element of STEAM education was given deeper meaning and resonance. With its vivid colors, the installation not only celebrates the joy of the season but also encourages reflection on waste recycling and the creative reuse of resources.
ZCP Urban Biodiversity Discovery Station Exhibition
The event will also feature the ZCP Urban Biodiversity Discovery Station Exhibition, showcasing the unique biodiversity of CIC-ZCP. This exhibition will guide the public in exploring the urban native forest hidden within the city, encouraging visitors to rediscover and appreciate its rich and diverse natural ecology.
