Objectives

  • To uplift the skill level of industry practitioners through competition and recognise those with excellent skill level in their respective trades;

  • To create an atmosphere for the industry to participate in the identification and development of construction workers as construction elites by elevating their skill level.

Depending on the actual number of competitors, the 3rd group competition (Youth Group and/or Open Group) may be arranged on 29 March 2020 (Sunday).

Age Requirement

Born on or after 1 January 1999

Born before 1 January 1999

Qualification Requirement

  • Possessing the Intermediate Trade Test Certificate or the Semi-skilled Worker qualification issued by the Construction Industry Council (CIC) (or above qualification) of the corresponding trade; OR

  • Having accomplished or currently under a training course or  collaborative training programme of the corresponding trade.

  • Possessing the Trade Test Certificate or the Skilled Worker qualification issued by the Construction Industry Council (CIC) of the corresponding trade.

Awards

  1. Top 3 winners of each skill will each be awarded with HK$5,000 cash prize, a medal and a certificate.

  2. Outstanding participants, who fulfill the requirements, may be selected to participate in the WorldSkills Hong Kong Competition 2020 (Asian Friendly Match) and/or WorldSkills Shanghai 2021 as one of the Hong Kong representatives, as well as the WorldSkills Training Programme.

  3. The Champion of each skill may have the opportunity to participate in the WorldSkills Shanghai 2021 as an observer.

  1. The Champion of each skill will be awarded with HK$20,000 cash prize, an honorable titled trophy and a certificate, as well as the opportunity to participate in the WorldSkills Shanghai 2021 as an observer.

  2. The 1st Runner-up of each skill will be awarded with HK$10,000 cash prize, a trophy and a certificate.

  3. The 2nd Runner-up of each skill will be awarded with HK$8,000 cash prize, a trophy and a certificate.

  4. The Merit prize winner(s) of each skill will be awarded with HK$1,000 cash prize and a certificate.

Application

  1. Application form could be downloaded from the CIC website or collected at the HKCITTC. Applicant could return the completed application form to the CIC by one of the following means :

  2. As nomination award will be presented to the nominating party of the top 3 winners, an applicant must be nominated by either a nominator or a nominating organisation (more than one nominating party is not accepted).

    • Requirements of Nominator and Nominating Organisation:

    • Nominator:Must possess the Intermediate Trade Test / Trade Test Certificate, or the Semi-skilled / Skilled Worker qualification issued by the CIC.

    • Nominating Organisation:Must be Registered Specialist Trade Contractor in CIC, Registered Subcontractor in CIC, trade association, labour union, training institution or the direct employer of the applicant.

  3. If the number of applications exceeds the limit, the Organiser will pre-select the applicants based on their qualification, training background and working experience for the final entry to the competition, and the shortlisted applicants will receive a notice of confirmation in January to February 2020.

Application Deadline

The open application deadline is 31 December 2019 (except for CIC invitees), which is regarded as the date on which the application form is received by the CIC or the postmark date.

*Each entrant may only submit one entry.

Judging Panel

To ensure the transparency and equitability of the competition, the assessment panel will be comprised of representatives nominated by the CIC, Hong Kong Institute of Construction (HKIC), trade associations, labour unions and/or other industry stakeholders.
