The unemployment rate of the construction sector rose to 5.6% in 2019 Q4. The outbreak of the Novel Coronavirus has further worsened the weak economy. Despite the current social unrest situation, the “Construction Innovation Expo” was successfully held, attracting 228 exhibitors from 15 regions and countries with a frequency of visits reaching over 23,800. The 4-day Expo was held from 17 – 20 December 2019 and jointly organised by Construction Industry Council and the Development Bureau, supported by Centre of Science and Technology Industrial Development, Ministry of Housing and Urban-Rural Development of the PRC. The success should be attributed to the concerted efforts made by the industry.
