Compass and try-square, the commonly used tools in the construction industry, symbolises rules and norms in the Chinese culture. The Chinese proverb originated from the ancient Chinese philosopher and scholar, Mencius says, “Nothing can be accomplished without rules and norms”. This motto is particularly meaningful to young construction people in the current chaotic situation.

As a communication platform between the construction industry and the government, the CIC arranged meetings with legislative councillors from different parties from 8 to 10 October before Legislative Council resumed meetings with an aim to update the latest development of the industry and express our concerns. Attendees come from contractor, sub-contractor, trade union and professional body.
