CHAN Ka-lap

Technical Services Officer After joining the construction industry, I found that many people generally view the industry as dirty, unpromising, rude, low educational attainment, etc. Although the industry’s image has been uplifting in recent years, challenges such as aging workforce and shortage of skilled labor pose threats to the industry. There is an urge to recruit more practitioners and youngsters with potential to join the workforce. By sharing my working experience to the public, I wish I could help enhance the image of the industry.



CHENG Lai-kei

Safety Officer As a Construction Industry Ambassador, I hope I can change the general public’s misconceptions towards the construction industry, and thus, promoting the professional, safe and healthy image of the industry and encouraging more youngsters to join the big construction family. In the coming two years, I will do my best to contribute to the society in a proactive and responsible manner.



CHENG Tin-wa, Louis

Building Surveying Graduate As a fresh building surveying graduate, I hope I can make good use of my positive attitude and passion to influence the public and inspire them to view the industry from new perspectives. By shaping and promoting a positive and energetic industry image, I think that would attract more youngsters to join this vibrant industry.

Assistant Quantity Surveyor After joining the construction industry for more than two years, I think the industry prospects are promising. As a Construction Industry Ambassador, I hope I can acquaint the youngsters and students with industry knowledge and thus, giving fresh impetus to the industry. Moreover, I hope I can improve my interpersonal and social skills, which will help me advance my career development, through the Construction Industry Ambassador training.

Assistant Inspector of Works Being part of the construction industry, I think I am obligated to help build a professional industry image and clear up the public misunderstanding towards our industry. Through various publicity activities and experience sharing, I would like to acquaint the younger generation with the industry knowledge and uplift the image of the industry, so as to attract new blood.



LUI Tsz-ching, Lucy

Administration Manager I regard myself as a positive and optimistic person. I hope I can convince my friends to join the industry and have a new perception of the industry. Also, I would like to encourage my colleagues and industry practitioners to engage in continuous learning through my own experience sharing, and thus, making the construction industry more and more professional.



MAK Ho-ming

Assistant Safety & Environmental Officer As a “post-90s generation”, I am talkative, optimistic, and out-spoken. I am dedicated to change the traditional mindsets of the general public towards the construction industry. Through the sharing of my work experience and knowledge, I hope more youngsters will join the industry and grow with us, becoming the “Construction Industry Elites”.

Survey Officer (Engineering) Construction industry is a big family and I wish I could be the first Construction Industry Ambassador in the Engineering Surveying trade. Engineering Surveying plays a vital role in any construction projects from the initial construction stage to the completion. We provide an initial survey data to engineers; monitor formation/ deformation works; and record the final product. We also work closely with different parties to deliver projects. I wish I could seize this opportunity to well-equip myself and influence the youngsters to join our big family, making our industry become more energetic and vibrant.

CHENG Ka-ho

Form 4 When I was a little boy, I developed a keen interest in Engineering and have been fascinated with different buildings, such as skyscrapers, commercial and residential buildings. Therefore, I chose to be a Science student when I was in F.4 with an aim to developing my career in the engineering field in the future. I take part in the Construction Industry Ambassador Nomination because I cannot wait to engage in the industry and know more about the industry development, so as to pave the way for my future career.



HUI Ming-ho

Building Engineering and Management Year 3 I would like to arouse the younger generation’s interest in the construction industry. I share similar stories with them and would like to tell them my story in person, so as to encourage them and help them choose the right paths for themselves. As a Construction Industry Ambassador, I hope I can acquaint them with construction related knowledge and rectify some misunderstandings. Meanwhile, this program also provides me with a great opportunity to broaden my horizon and expand my network in this industry.



LUI Chun-hoi, Ben

Surveying Year 3 Apart from the Ten Major Infrastructure Projects, the Government has also forged ahead with other works, such as the three-runway system of the Hong Kong International Airport and the North East New Territories New Development Areas Planning. It shows that the demand for construction manpower in Hong Kong remains high. Thus, as a Construction Industry Ambassador, I wish to share my experience and knowledge to raise the awareness of the construction sector and attract new blood to the industry for the anticipation of a greater demand for skilled workers in the future.



NG Man-wai

Surveying Year 4 As a Construction Industry Ambassador, I would like to drive home to the public the significance of the construction industry, not just from the perspective of the social development but also in terms of vitality, youthfulness and professionalism. What’s more, I would like to encourage more women to join the construction industry, as well as to facilitate more collaboration among the professionals in creating a sustainable and harmonic industry.

Diploma in Building Construction Supervision I am grateful to the Construction Industry Council for giving me the chance to promote the construction industry and make contribution to its development. For me personally, this is an invaluable experience that helps me build up my confidence and enrich my life through various engagement activities.



GUO An

Diploma in Civil Engineering Supervision Although I am still a trainee, I would like to step out of the training center and contribute my part to the development of the construction industry. Being a Construction Industry Ambassador is a special honour, it is also a great encouragement especially for a trainee. As an Ambassador, I will try my very best to accomplish every mission, no matter the scale, and fulfill all the tasks assigned to me. Through participating in different activities and trainings, I hope I can train up myself and lay a good foundation for the future.

Bar-bending and Fixing I am an outgoing and passionate person. After I took the bar bending course organised by the Construction Industry Council and went through various trainings, I realised that I am of great interest to the construction industry. I decided to do my best to serve the industry as well as the society. What’s more, I hope I can inspire others with my own experience and offer a new perception of the industry to the public. Thus, attracting more youngsters to join the big family.



LEUNG Man-wai

Diploma in Building Construction Supervision I participated in the Construction Industry Ambassador Nomination with the encouragement of my instructor. I believe I can help those who are keen to enter the construction industry by sharing my own experience. As a Construction Industry Ambassador, I hope I can serve and contribute to the industry.



WONG Wai-wing

Bricklaying and Plastering All construction projects require different techniques, tools and expertises of different professions to work together. I hope I can acquire various skills and contribute to the industry. Moreover, the majority views working in the construction industry as tough, with a poor and unhygienic working environment. I want to share my own experience and acquaint the public with the safety information, so as to improve the industry image. In spare time, I join the Construction Industry Council’s volunteering team to help the needy.



YAU Hoi-laam

Diploma in Building Construction Supervision After studying the courses organised by the Construction Industry Council for a year and a half, I found that the construction industry is indeed quite different from my expectation. I am eager to be a Construction Industry Ambassador and change the traditional perception of the public towards the industry. In recent years, the industry has been actively recruiting and training new blood, I hope I can attract the younger generation to join the workforce and enhance both the quality and professionalism of the industry in the future.

Diploma in Building Construction Supervision As the traditional image of construction industry is quite misleading, I want to change people’s views with my own experience. Meanwhile, I want to broaden my horizon through the participation in the Construction Industry Ambassador Nomination, which enables me to make various attempts and meet every challenge. I would also like to have a better understanding of the culture and various trades of the construction industry.

Plumbing & Pipe-fitting First of all, I would like to thank the Construction Industry Council for appointing me as one of the 2017 Construction Industry Ambassadors. The key reason why I participate in the nomination is that I would like to set an example, especially for ethnic minorities, and encourage them to acquire more skills so as to improve their livings. My personal philosophy is “When you enter the construction industry, why not work as a skilled worker?”
