Construction Innovation Expo 2026 (CIExpo 2026)

CIC Year of AI

The Construction Industry Council (CIC) has designated 2026 as the Year of AI to encourage broader and more practical adoption of artificial intelligence across Hong Kong’s construction industry. As part of this initiative, CIC will implement 50 AI initiatives across eight key focus areas, including safety, design optimisation, procurement, programme planning, quality inspection, robotics, sustainability, and total lifecycle management. Through these efforts, the Year of AI seeks to enhance industry capability, improve safety and efficiency, and support the development of a smarter and more resilient built environment.

The CITF is established to encourage wider adoption of innovative construction methods and new technologies in the construction industry with a view to promoting productivity, uplifting built quality, improving site safety and enhancing environmental performance.

Construction Productivity

The CIC aims to foster an efficient and healthy construction market by promoting best practices and innovative solutions in areas such as tendering, project management, quality supervision and risk allocation, innovative construction approaches including robotics and automation, offsite construction, and research and development. It seeks to elevate construction productivity through improved processes, industrialisation, and the adoption of innovative technologies and materials.

Construction Digitalisation

The CIC continues to promote and facilitate wider adoption of construction digitalisation and related technologies in architecture, engineering, construction and operation, as well as formulating strategies for market transformation and promoting cross-discipline collaboration in the industry. The CIC provides support to the industry in five areas, via promotion on construction digitalisation adoption, standards and guidelines, training, BIM personnel certification and BIM course accreditation, and construction digitalisation-related research using CIC's Research and Technology Development Fund.

Mainland Affairs

The CIC aims to facilitate the integration of Hong Kong's construction industry into the national development by enhancing communication and cooperation with relevant Mainland enterprises and institutions, and promoting the understanding and application of innovative building technologies from the Mainland in the local construction industry to enhance technological innovation, competitiveness and knowledge transfer.

The CIC also assists in facilitating the alignment and mutual recognition of standards and qualifications between the Mainland and Hong Kong in the construction sector, facilitates local industry stakeholders in exploring the supply chain in the Greater Bay Area, supports knowledge exchange and cooperation in relevant training between the two places, and fosters a good understanding on the Mainland and the construction industry development for the youths in Hong Kong.

Modular Integrated Construction (MiC)

With an aim to facilitating wide adoption of MiC in Hong Kong, the CIC keeps abreast of the latest MiC trends and development worldwide. The CIC provides information on relevant regulations and guidelines, as well as updates on MiC projects. The CIC has set up a Resources Centre to share information and experience, engages industry stakeholders, and addresses their concerns for achieving success in their MiC journey.

Repair, Maintenance, Alteration and Addition

The CIC is dedicated to the enhancement and development of the Repair, Maintenance, Addition & Alteration (RMAA) industry. RMAA being one of the vital pillars of the construction process, via Worker Training, Promotion & Education, Standardisation and Supervision Matters, CIC aims to train high quality and safety-minded workers and improve industry and public standards for the long term development of the industry.

CIC-Zero Carbon Park

Hong Kong’s first zero carbon building, the CIC–Zero Carbon Park (“CIC-ZCP”), since its opening in 2012, acts as a test bed for state-of-the-art eco-building design and continually optimising its technologies, also serves as an exhibition, education and information centre. The CIC-ZCP raises awareness on the importance of green building design locally and internationally, and aspires to boost the public’s ecological value and living in low carbon lifestyle.
