About the Seminar
Construction Industry Council (CIC) has issued “Guidelines on the Design, Installation and Maintenance of Cast-in Anchors at External Walls of New Buildings” (Guidelines) (Version 1) in July 2011. Some comments were received from the industry on the inspection and testing requirements of cast-in anchors. In view of this, the CIC Secretariat and Task Force on Work Safety of Repair, Maintenance, Alterations and Additions (RMAA) Sites reviewed and updated the content of the “Guidelines on the Design, Installation and Maintenance of Cast-in Anchors at External Walls of New Buildings” (Guidelines) (Version 2) with relevant industry stakeholders and published in November 2017. The revised Guidelines set out details of the technical guidelines for the location, design, installation and maintenance of cast-in anchors for the direct attachment of personal fall protection systems and equipment to further strengthen and improve work safety on external work. Recently, Buildings Department (BD) also updated the PNAP to enhance external work safety through design for safety.
On top of this, the Committee on Construction Safety of the CIC organise a Seminar with speakers from the Buildings Department, Hong Kong Housing Authority, The Hong Kong Institute of Architects, Occupational Safety and Health Council and Hong Kong Association of Property Management Companies to share their experience on external work safety. Through the seminar, it is hoped that participants will have an update on recent measures and enhancement on external work safety and can promptly implement the safety practices within their work areas.
