Background of Greater Bay Area (GBA)

The Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao GBA is one of the key strategic initiatives of the Mainland Administration development blueprint. It was a key region in developing innovation-driven technology and a confirmed commitment to reform and opening-up. The development of the GBA is to leverage the comparative advantages of the area to closely cooperate amongst Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macao to form a mega economy system.

The GBA comprises the two Special Administrative Regions of Hong Kong and Macao, and the nine municipalities of Guangzhou, Shenzhen, Zhuhai, Zhongshan, Dongguan, Jiangmen, Foshan, Huizhou and Zhaoqing in Guangdong Province.
