Introduction

Construction cost is constantly on the rise nationwide and Hong Kong has become one of the cities with the most expensive buildings in Asia. The Technical Seminar aims to provide an overview of the factors leading to the increasing construction cost around the world, particularly in Hong Kong. Measures in controlling and reducing the rising cost with respect to different sectors of the construction industry would be examined. The Technical Seminar will cover:

  • factors contributing to the construction cost and its rising trends in Hong Kong and around the world
  • measures adopted by the Government and private contractors in Hong Kong to control and reduce the rising construction cost

Terms and Conditions

1 The Technical Seminar will be conducted in English with Cantonese simultaneous interpretation.
2 It is suggested that participation in the Technical Seminar counts for 2.5 CPD hours.
3 The CIC reserves the right to make any changes to the programme and speakers without prior notice
4 The Technical Seminar will be postponed if the No. 8 typhoon signal or above or black rainstorm warning is hoisted 3 hours before the Technical Seminar. The CIC will inform the participants by email for any new arrangement subsequently.
5 Application should be made online. Reservation by telephone or email is not acceptable.
6 Seats are limited and application will be processed on a “first-come-first-served” basis. Final reservation is at CIC’s discretion. Confirmation email will be sent to the successful applicants in due course. Upon confirmation of the application, the CIC should be notified of any absence at the earliest convenience.
